Sledgehammer Beach Run

The Sledgehammer Race Series, hosted by the Jacksonville-Onslow Sports Commission, is held at North Topsail Beach, NC, and features a Half Marathon, 10k, and 5k. The event honors Dr. E. B. "Sledgehammer" Sledge, a WWII Marine veteran, highlighting his contributions and legacy. Participants run on the beach and can enjoy various amenities, including refreshments. Awards and race points are available, with previous year's medals offered at a discount due to a sell out. Optional race merchandise can be purchased, and discounted hotel rates are available for attendees. The event proceeds regardless of weather conditions.
