About the event

The Mexico City Marathon is one of the most prestigious endurance races in Latin America, attracting over 30,000 participants each year. Recognized as a World Athletics Gold Label Road Race since 2018, it blends elite international competition with broad local participation. The 42.195 km course begins in Alameda Central, winds through the heart of the city along Paseo de la Reforma, and concludes with a dramatic finish inside the iconic 1968 Olympic Stadium at Ciudad Universitaria. The route’s high altitude—over 2,200 meters above sea level—and hilly terrain between kilometers 10 and 25 offer a distinctive challenge even for experienced marathoners. Despite the difficulty, the marathon is known for its incredible atmosphere: colorful neighborhoods, live music, and cheering crowds line the route, turning the city into a celebration of endurance and unity. The weekend also features a marathon cycling race, inclusive categories, and a lively expo that captures the pride and culture of Mexico’s capital.
