Zezere Swimrun

The Zêzere Swimrun takes place in the heart of Portugal, around the Castelo de Bode Dam. Since its inception in 2017, the event has captured the hearts of participants, offering a unique blend of history, natural beauty, and challenging terrain. This year, participants will navigate the GRZ (Grande Rota do Zêzere), following undulating trails that provide incredible vistas over the Castelo de Bode Dam, a pristine freshwater reservoir. The event concludes at the Fluvial Beach of Aldeia do Mato, known for its peaceful setting and scenic views. The water temperatures range between 20°C and 23°C, perfect for swimming, while the air temperature hovers around 28°C, creating an added challenge when exposed to the sun. Participants must manage their effort wisely throughout the course due to the demanding route, especially since the dam's freshwater provides less buoyancy, adding an additional safety consideration.
