Trooper David Brinkerhoff Memorial/Army Cycling Classic Road Race

Village of Coxsackie, NY, United States
12 Apr, 2025 (Sat)

About the event

This Race is dedicated to the memory of NYS Trooper David Brinkerhoff who was killed in the line of duty on April 25, 2007.

This year the Capital Bicycle Racing Club (CBRC) is teaming up with the Army West Point Cycling Team to host an expanded Trooper David Brinkerhoff Memorial Race. In addition to the fields that we have typically run, we will be hosting racers from the Eastern Collegiate Cycling Conference (ECCC). To accommodate the additional racers, we will be running two waves of fields, one starting at 10 am and the second starting at 12:30 pm.

By expanding the fields, we are able to:

Increase the prize money for the elite fields (P/1/2/3 and Women’s P/1/2/3) to $800 per field and expand the payouts to the first six places.Run two separate women’s fields: a 4-lap (50 mile) race for P/1/2/3 riders and a 3-lap (38-mile) race for 4/5 riders.Reinstate a two-lap (26 mile) race for Cat 5 (novice) and Collegiate D riders.Run dedicated races for Collegiate B and C riders.Post separate results in the Masters 45+ and 55+ categories.

In addition to the races, we are hosting a racing clinic at 9:00 am on the course. Andy Ruiz and Benjamin Kramer have agreed to donate their time as instructors. Andy has over 30 years of racing experience as a category 1-2 racer. He's a USA Cycling certified coach with his own coaching business. Andy runs CBRC’s Junior Development team, which comprises over 35 junior riders and is the promoter of the Farmer’s Daughter Gravel Grinder. Benjamin is a veteran of nineteen years of racing bikes, with over six hundred mass starts. From managing weekly training races to domestiquing teammates to multiple stage race races overall wins, Benjamin can share a thing or two having done a thing or two! Pre-registration is required.
