Spreewald Marathon

The Spreewald Marathon is not just a race—it’s a four-day celebration of endurance, nature, and community in one of Germany’s most unique landscapes. Returning for its 24th edition from 16 to 19 April 2026, the event brings together over 13,000 participants across the towns of Burg, Lübbenau, and Straupitz. With distances for all levels, including running, cycling, inline skating, and even paddling, it’s one of the most diverse endurance events in Europe. The marathon course winds through the tranquil waterways, forests, and meadows of the Spreewald biosphere reserve—a UNESCO-protected region. Aid stations every 5 km and over 550 volunteers ensure smooth logistics and heartfelt hospitality. Participants are greeted with traditional Spreewald pickles at the finish line, a trademark of the event. Whether you're aiming for a personal best or simply soaking up the scenic surroundings, the Spreewald Marathon offers a uniquely local and well-supported race atmosphere.
