奈良マラソン
About the event
The Nara Marathon is a mid-December road race that takes runners on a journey through Japan’s ancient capital. Starting and finishing at Rohto Field Nara (Konoike Athletics Stadium), the course loops through both Nara and Tenri cities, offering a rolling route that blends local neighborhoods with historic landmarks. Certified by World Athletics and JAAF, the race features World Heritage scenery including temples, shrines, and the striking Suzakumon Gate at the Heijo Palace site—making it one of the most scenic marathons in the country. Held on the second Sunday of December, the event also includes a 10K World Heritage Run and a family-friendly Mini Marathon. Strict time cutoffs, organized start blocks, and well-managed logistics keep the event efficient and fair for runners of all levels.
