About the event
The Nanjing Marathon is a World Athletics Bronze Label road race that attracts tens of thousands of runners to one of China’s most historic cities. After a three-year pause, the event returned with a new finish line at Yanziji Riverside Park and continues to start from the Nanjing Olympic Sports Centre. The course offers marathon, half marathon, and 5K distances, and is known for its blend of urban energy and heritage-rich backdrops—including views of the Qinhuai River, Yangtze River, and sections of the ancient Nanjing City Wall. With elite-level competition and strong domestic participation, the race is both competitive and celebratory. The course is relatively fast and has hosted national record-chasing efforts and special performance bonuses for Chinese athletes.
