Morcote Scal

Morcote Scal is a one-of-a-kind vertical sprint race limited to just 100 competitors, offering an exclusive and adrenaline-fueled experience. Organized in partnership with the Municipality of Morcote and the Carnevale association, the race follows a knockout heat format where each participant races at least twice. Athletes will sprint through Morcote’s iconic narrow alleys and ascend 420 stone steps from Piazza Granda to the Church of Santa Maria del Sasso—an intense, scenic route that’s both physically demanding and visually unforgettable. The concept, developed by local resident Pierre Derrien, draws inspiration from Olympic-style competitions and is based on his personal training path. Expect a dynamic, festive atmosphere with head-to-head races that blend heritage, sport, and stunning lake views.
