About the event

The Special Olympics Michigan Area 19 hosts an annual 5K Run/Walk event at Ella Sharp Park in Jackson County. The event includes a main race and a SOMI athlete/Kids Fun Run. Overall awards are given to the top male and female finishers in both the 5k Run and Walk categories, with age group awards also available. Proceeds support the Jackson Area 19 Special Olympics for athletes with intellectual disabilities. The event is chip-timed by the Michigan Running Foundation.
