Grand Island Trail Marathon

Participants run a course on a wilderness island in Lake Superior, following the perimeter trail counterclockwise past features such as Murray Bay, Duck Lake, the Tombolo, and Trout Bay. The route includes eastern cliffs with views of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, 300-foot Jacobsville sandstone cliffs, and North Beach. The western shore offers vistas of Lake Superior. Sections of the course go inland to Echo Lake and the island’s summit via forest roads.
