About the event

The Freighter Festival of Races celebrates the opening of the shipping season in Sault Sainte Marie. Organized by Yooper Running Company, it features a 5K run, a 5K walk, and a half marathon, all starting and finishing near Avery Square. Participants will enjoy views of freighters along the St. Mary's River. The event includes a craft show and awards unique freighter medals to all finishers. Overall winners and age group leaders receive themed crafts.
