Egyptian Marathon

Experience the magic of ancient Egypt in the oldest ongoing marathon in Africa and the Middle East. The Egyptian Marathon, held under the historic temple of Queen Hatshepsut, takes runners through a breathtaking route that winds through multiple ancient landmarks, including the temple of Habou, temple of Amenophis, and the Colossi of Memnon.This marathon is a celebration of pharaonic tradition and has been a regular event for the past 31 years. It is also accredited by the Abbott World Marathons Majors, allowing runners to collect points and potentially be included in future Major Marathon events.

Participants can choose from various race categories, including male, female, open, and Masters division. The marathon offers different distances, such as the Luxor Run at 22.289 km, the Ramsis Run and Walk at 12.336km, and the Hatshepsut Run and Walk at 5 km.

During the marathon, runners can enjoy the beautiful scenery while being provided with essential services every 2.5 km, such as mineral water and bananas. The weather during the marathon is usually pleasant, with temperatures ranging from 18-23 degrees Celsius, humidity at 44%, and a wind speed of 4 knots (1.15 kn/h).
