Drew Russell Memorial Run

The Drew Russell Memorial Run is an event held in memory of Captain Drew Russell, an ROTC alumnus from Western Michigan University who was killed in action. The event includes a live and virtual 5K run/walk, with proceeds supporting a scholarship for WMU students. Captain Russell, remembered for his humor and community involvement, was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star Medal and the Purple Heart. Participants can register for the event, which features awards for top runners in various age categories. Dogs and strollers are allowed in the race, and T-shirts are available for participants.
