About the event
The Canberra Times Marathon Festival is Australia's longest-running city marathon, established in 1976 and set in the heart of the nation's capital. Certified by IAAF–AIMS, the marathon course showcases iconic landmarks such as Parliament House, Commonwealth Avenue Bridge, and the scenic shores of Lake Burley Griffin. With events ranging from 5 km to the full marathon (42.2 km), the festival draws elite competitors and everyday runners alike. The route features gentle elevation (approx. 380 m total) and fast, sweeping roads, ideal for those aiming to test their limits or achieve a personal best. The runners are welcome to a bustling event village at John Dunmore Lang Place.
