Beast of the Blacks Ultra 40 mi plus 20 & 10 mile

The Beast of the Blacks offers a thrilling trail challenge through the rugged and majestic Black Mountains of Wales. With 10-mile, 20-mile, and 40-mile race options, this event attracts everyone from elite mountain runners to weekend adventurers seeking their next test. Each route is fully marked and supported by marshals, with generous cut-off times (5, 8, and 16 hours, respectively) to ensure everyone has the chance to tame the beast. The race starts near Llanbedr, climbing straight into the Black Mountains, where runners are treated to panoramic views and a wild mix of terrain. Expect forest trails, summit ridges, river crossings, and even ancient churches along the way. The 40-mile ultra is a double loop of the 20-mile course—run in reverse on the second lap—offering a completely new perspective and a shot at capturing anything missed the first time around. This is a canicross-friendly event, welcoming fit, leashed dogs aged 12 months or older. While canine companions add excitement and encouragement, they’re not eligible for podium prizes.
